“To be honest, that doesn’t exist at the moment.”
I only realised it was true as I said it.
It was a cold Thursday afternoon in October in London.
I was on a call with a client who wanted to start an education business.
He wanted a platform that would let him run a program that could scale.
But he also wanted something that would help him really get results for his students.
And as I said it, I realised there wasn’t one.
In the 5 years I’ve been helping build education businesses, we’ve solved this problem in lots of ways:
- We’ve cobbled together community tools into makeshift education platforms
- We’ve helped educators launch standalone courses
- We’ve even built custom platforms from scratch because they couldn't find what they needed
And all of those were attempts to work around one simple problem:
There’s no platform today that allows educators to provide a world-class education experience, at scale.
That realisation sent me down a six-month rabbit hole.
First, I went to check if what I thought was true.
There can’t be nothing designed to get results for online educators, can there?
Ok… there isn’t anything. Why not?
Right, it was pretty much impossible to do well before LLMs.
So now seems like a great time, but can I build it?
Maybe, but I’d need help.
A few weeks later, in November, I had a chat with a friend who’s been working with AI for the past two years.
He also thought the online education experience was pretty terrible.
So, we decided to work together to build the platform we wish existed.
I wanted to go all in, so I stopped posting for a while.
We researched, prototyped, designed and built a platform to do one thing:
Allow online educators to achieve world-class results, at massive scale.
We realised you can do this by going back to four education fundamentals:
1) Give every student a personalised program
No more one-size-fits-all courses.
2) Create a platform that fits any kind of program
So you’re not forced to make your curriculum fit the system.
3) Build automatic monitoring for students
So that you know who needs help, and when.
4) Create a 24/7 student support assistant
One that knows your unique curriculum and can help students when they get stuck.
So that’s what we’re making.
A platform anyone can use to teach what they love and get incredible results.
A platform that doesn’t charge fees until you’re already making money.
A platform that works for all types of online education, so you can teach your way.
I can’t wait to tell you more about it.
Next week, I’ll explain the biggest misconception people seem to have:
“No one buys online education.”
And if you believe that too, you're in for a shock.
We researched it. The results blew our minds.
In the meantime, have a great week.
